* WHAT...Snow. Snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches above 7000 feet. At Lake Tahoe level, 3 to 6 inches, with 6 to 12 inches along and west of Highway 89. Wind gusts up to 35 mph, with gusts reaching 75 mph along the Sierra crest. Wave heights 1 to 3 feet on Lake Tahoe. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area. * WHEN...From 10 PM Monday to 4 PM PST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, as well as the Wednesday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

Luther Pass Overflow Campground is a primitive, backcountry campground managed by the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit on Highway 89, approximately 16 miles south of South Lake Tahoe. This free campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. The facility includes 11 designated campsites and enforces a five-day stay limit per season. Camping is only permitted in designated spots. Situated at 7,000 feet elevation just up the road from Big Meadow Trailhead, the campground provides convenient access to the Tahoe Rim Trail for hikers and backpackers. Basic amenities include vault toilets and a dumpster. Drinking water is not available on-site. Campfires using wood, charcoal, or solid fuels are only permitted within permanent iron fire rings when the campground is open and enhanced fire restrictions are not in effect. Summers are typically warm and dry, though nighttime temperatures can be cold and afternoon thundershowers are common. Snow is possible during any month of the year, so visitors should be prepared for changeable weather conditions. The campground's primitive nature and free access make it popular for budget-conscious travelers exploring the Lake Tahoe area.
