About

Crab Orchard Campground is located within Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most visited refuges in the nation. Situated on the 7,000-acre Crab Orchard Lake, the campground provides excellent access to fishing for crappie, bluegill, and bass. The refuge serves as a critical migration stopover along the Mississippi Flyway, attracting thousands of waterfowl and shorebirds each spring and fall. The campground offers sites ranging from full hookup RV sites to primitive tent camping. Three bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets serve the campground, along with a dump station and fish cleaning station. A camp store on site sells bait, firewood, ice, and snacks. Beach access is available for a day-use fee. Kayak rentals are offered for exploring the lake. The refuge features six hiking trails, opportunities for hunting and fishing, and a wilderness area on the southern portion. The River-to-River trail passes through the refuge. Maximum camping stay is 14 days within any 16-day period.
