About
Copper Creek Dispersed #8 is a dispersed camping area in the Pintler Ranger District of Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest in Granite County, Montana. Located near the established Copper Creek Campground along the Middle Fork of Rock Creek at approximately 5,500 feet elevation, this primitive site offers solitude in a remote mountain environment. The area provides access to excellent fishing opportunities in the Middle Fork of Rock Creek and Copper Creek, both known for quality trout fishing. Nearby trails offer hiking opportunities into the surrounding forest. The site is reached via Middle Fork Road (Forest Road 5106), approximately 10 miles from Highway 38. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions with no amenities or services. As with all dispersed camping in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, campers must follow Leave No Trace principles, pack out all trash, and limit stays to 16 days within a 30-day period. The forest's annual food storage order requires proper storage of food and attractants due to bear activity in the area.
Directions
From Philipsburg, travel south on Highway 1 for approximately 6.5 miles. Take Highway 38 west for 9 miles, then turn onto Middle Fork Road (Forest Road 5106) and continue approximately 10 miles.
