Copper Creek Dispersed #6 is a designated dispersed camping site located in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest in Granite County, Montana. Situated at approximately 5,500 feet elevation near Copper Creek and the Middle Fork of Rock Creek drainage, this primitive site offers backcountry camping in a forested mountain setting. As a dispersed site, campers should expect no facilities or amenities. This location provides a remote camping experience for those seeking solitude and self-sufficient outdoor recreation. The area offers access to fishing opportunities in nearby creeks and exploration of the surrounding national forest lands. Campers must follow Leave No Trace principles and be prepared for primitive conditions. Winter access may be limited or impossible due to snow accumulation at this elevation. All dispersed camping regulations for the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest apply, including proper food storage requirements due to bear activity in the region.
Directions
From Philipsburg, travel south on Highway 1 for about 6.5 miles to the junction with Skalkaho Highway/Highway 38. Turn right onto Highway 38 and continue west for 9.2 miles. Turn left onto Moose Lake Road/FR 5106 and continue approximately 10 miles. Turn right onto Frog Pond Road/FR 80 and continue 0.2 miles to the campground on the right.
