Copper Creek Dispersed #10 is a dispersed camping area situated in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest near the confluence of Copper Creek and Middle Fork Rock Creek. At an elevation of approximately 5,500 feet in Granite County, this site offers primitive camping in a mountainous, forested setting with easy access to exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities. The area provides close proximity to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, which covers almost 250 square miles along the Continental Divide. Middle Fork Rock Creek offers good fishing for Cutthroat Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, and Whitefish. Multiple trailheads within seven miles provide access to wilderness hiking and backpacking. The nearby Skalkaho Highway offers scenic driving when open seasonally. This is primitive dispersed camping with no facilities or services. Campers must be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles. The forest-wide Food Storage Order requires proper storage of all food, beverages, and scented items due to bear activity in the area. Winter access is extremely limited or impossible due to snow and road closures at this elevation.

Directions

From Philipsburg, travel south on Highway 1 for about 6.5 miles to the junction with Skalkaho Highway 38. Turn right onto Highway 38 and continue west for 9.2 miles. Turn left onto Moose Lake Road/FR 5106 and continue approximately 10 miles. The dispersed camping area is accessed via forest roads in the Copper Creek vicinity near the established campground.
