About

Cochiti Campground is located on the west side of Cochiti Lake within the boundaries of the Pueblo de Cochiti Indian Reservation in Sandoval County, New Mexico. At 5,343 feet elevation, the campground is nestled in the foothills of the Jemez Mountains in a high desert environment dominated by juniper, pinon trees, and mixed grasslands. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the facility offers approximately 60 campsites, with 34 sites featuring water and electric hookups in the Buffalo Grove Loop. The quiet lake is ideal for paddling, wind surfing, and sailing, while fishing opportunities include bass, crappie, walleye, pike, catfish, sunfish, and trout. The campground provides access to a family-friendly swim beach and a year-round boat ramp with four concrete lanes. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with osprey nesting platforms erected around the lake, and frequent sightings of deer, coyote, river otters, rabbits, and beavers. The campground is located just five miles from Tent Rocks National Monument and is positioned between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, making it a convenient base for exploring northern New Mexico.
