About

Claytor Lake State Park Cabins and Lodges provide waterfront accommodations along one of Southwest Virginia's most scenic lakes. The park offers 15 cabins and three lodges, all overlooking the 4,500-acre Claytor Lake formed by the New River. Cabin options include 12 two-bedroom units sleeping up to six guests, one three-bedroom cabin sleeping eight, and three spacious six-bedroom lodges accommodating up to 16 people each. All accommodations are climate-controlled with heat and air conditioning, and feature full kitchens with modern appliances including refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, coffeemakers, and dishwashers in the larger units. Each cabin has a fireplace, screened or open porches with rocking chairs, picnic tables, and pedestal grills. The lodges are particularly well-suited for large family gatherings or group retreats, offering washers and dryers, multiple bathrooms, and gas fireplaces. Cabins 1, 6, 7, and 13, as well as all three lodges (14, 15, and 16), are universally accessible. Guests should bring their own linens, towels, and personal items, as these are not provided. The park supplies one bundle of complimentary firewood per cabin. Cabin guests enjoy free access to the boat launch and first-come, first-served boat docks located throughout the cabin area. The 21-mile-long lake is popular for sport fishing, with excellent opportunities for bass, catfish, muskie, walleye, and striped bass. The park features seven miles of hiking and biking trails, a full-service marina with boat rentals, a guarded swimming beach during summer, and the historic Howe House visitor center. Located just off Interstate 81, the park is easily accessible and offers a peaceful lakeside retreat in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Highlands.
