About
Boley Field Group Campground provides old-fashioned, rustic group camping for those seeking a primitive outdoor experience with few amenities. Located at the base of Brush Mountain in a narrow valley along Poverty Creek, the large open field is ideal for groups up to 50 people who wish to picnic and tent camp together. The surrounding forest provides shade, creating a pleasant atmosphere for group gatherings. The campground features a group fire ring, picnic tables, standing grill, and vault toilet. There is no potable water, electricity, or hookups, and visitors must pack out all trash. Access requires crossing a creek on an unpaved road, with the gate secured by combination lock (code provided upon reservation). The site is located within a floodplain where flash floods can occur. Poverty Creek flows adjacent to the picnic area, offering opportunities for splashing in cool waters and fishing for stocked trout. Hikers and mountain bikers can easily access the 17-mile Poverty Creek Trail System directly from the site. Located just 20 minutes from Blacksburg and Virginia Tech, the campground provides a convenient escape into nature while remaining close to town amenities.
