About

Cimarrona Campground is located along Cimarrona Creek at 8,400 feet elevation in San Juan National Forest, about 25 miles northwest of Pagosa Springs. The campground features 21 first-come, first-served sites with a variety of options from sunny to well-shaded locations. Several sites can accommodate large RVs up to 35 feet. The campground sits in a mixed forest with views of the surrounding meadow and Williams Creek Reservoir to the south. The campground provides vault toilets, potable water, trash service, picnic tables, and fire grates during the main season. It's only a short walk from most sites to fish in Cimarrona Creek. The Cimarrona Trailhead is adjacent to the campground, offering access to backcountry hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Access requires driving about 15.5 miles on Piedra Road from Pagosa Springs, then 6 miles on FR 631, and finally 4 miles on FR 640. The campground is located 2.3 miles north of Teal Campground. Payment can be made on-site by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app.

Directions

From Pagosa Springs, travel about 15.5 miles on Piedra Road. Continue to FR 631 for about 6 miles. Turn right onto FR 640 for 4 miles to the campground entrance. Located 2.3 miles north of Teal Campground on Forest Road 640, above Williams Creek Reservoir.
