About
Rolling M Ranch Campground serves as the main developed camping facility at Chino Hills State Park, a 14,100-acre open space preserve in the hills around Santa Ana Canyon. The campground features 20 developed sites with paved parking that can accommodate two vehicles or RVs up to 30 feet in length. Each site includes a picnic table and lantern post, with a maximum capacity of eight occupants and two tents per site. Two sites (15 and 16) are specifically reserved for persons with accessibility needs. The campground offers modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. However, there are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups, and no dump station is available on site. Open fires are prohibited, but gas stoves may be used for cooking. The facility also accommodates backpackers and cyclists, though no backcountry or trail camping is permitted within the park. Chino Hills State Park provides over 90 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding through rolling grasslands, valleys, and oak woodlands. The park serves as a critical wildlife corridor and offers visitors a chance to experience solitude in a natural setting close to Southern California's urban areas. The main gate is locked at sunset daily, with registered campers receiving a combination code for after-hours access. Due to the park's high clay content soil, trails close for at least 48 hours following rain of more than one-quarter inch.
