Located in Aurora within the Denver metro area, Cherry Creek State Park offers a unique camping experience that combines urban accessibility with outdoor recreation. The campground features 135 modern campsites available year-round, including full hookup sites, basic tent sites, and group camping areas. All sites include picnic tables and level parking areas, with ADA-accessible options available. The park spans 4,000 acres and provides extensive recreational opportunities. Campers can explore 35 miles of multiuse trails, including 15 miles of paved paths perfect for biking, hiking, and walking. Cherry Creek Reservoir attracts water skiers, anglers, and boaters, while the surrounding prairie landscape offers wildlife viewing and a peaceful setting despite the urban location. Winter visitors enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities. Modern amenities include a camper services building with coin-operated showers and laundry facilities, firewood for purchase, and an outdoor amphitheater with bench seating and a fire pit. During winter months (November 1 through March 31), camping is limited to the Abilene Loop only. Reservations are required year-round and can be made through cpwshop.com or by calling 1-800-244-5613. The campground operates on a 14-day limit per 45-day period with check-in at 1 p.m. and checkout at noon.
