Cherry Creek Campground

About

Cherry Creek Campground is a primitive, undeveloped dispersed camping area situated in the pinyon-juniper woodlands of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nye County, Nevada. Located on Pine Creek Road (Forest Road 59411) just west of Cherry Creek Road (Forest Road 59410), this remote site offers solitude for experienced backcountry campers seeking to explore the surrounding wilderness. The campground serves as the primary access point for the Little Cherry Creek Trail, a 4.2-mile non-motorized trail that travels up a canyon along the creek into the Quinn Canyon Wilderness near Rachel, Nevada. This is strictly primitive camping with no developed facilities or amenities. Campers must bring all water, pack out all trash, and practice Leave No Trace principles. Access requires navigating a series of unpaved roads from the Sunnyside area, approximately 45 miles of improved gravel and dirt roads west of State Highway 318. High-clearance vehicles are recommended, and road conditions may be impassable during winter months or after heavy precipitation.

Directions

From Ely, take US-6 west to NV-318. Head south on NV-318 for 43 miles, then turn right onto Sunnyside Road for 10.2 miles. Slight left onto MCR936103 for 12.8 miles, then left onto Sunnyside for 14.8 miles. Turn right onto Cherry Creek Road and travel 5.6 miles, then sharp left to stay on Cherry Creek Road for 0.8 miles to the campground.
