Channel Islands State Marine Park is a pristine wilderness destination spread across 14 islands in Lynn Canal, roughly 25 miles northwest of downtown Juneau. Lincoln Island and Shelter Island are the most popular destinations, featuring sandy and gravelly beaches ideal for dispersed camping along with forested camping areas. Three public-use cabins are available for reservation: Lincoln Cabin, Salamander Cabin, and Handtrollers Cove Cabin (also known as Rupe Andrews Cabin). Access to the park is exclusively by water or air. Boaters can launch from Amalga Harbor, Auke Bay, or North Douglas boat launches, while float plane access is available from Juneau Airport. There are no mooring buoys at any of the islands. The area is renowned for wildlife viewing opportunities including bald eagles, seals, sea lions, humpback whales, and occasional killer whales. North Pass is a popular fishing location for salmon and halibut. The coastal climate brings cool summers with temperatures averaging in the 60s and rare highs reaching 80°F. Annual rainfall ranges from 60-90 inches, creating a wet environment that requires quality rain gear. Snow accumulation can begin as early as October. Visitors should be bear-aware and carry signaling devices while hiking.

Access by boat from Amalga Harbor, Auke Bay, or North Douglas boat launches in Juneau. Float plane access also available from Juneau Airport. Located 12-30 miles northwest of Juneau in Lynn Canal. No road access.
