About

Canyon Point Campground is located in the scenic Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in north central Arizona, positioned in a heavily wooded ponderosa pine and aspen forest at 7,500 feet elevation above the Mogollon Rim. The campground offers 103 campsites including 32 sites with electrical hookups, five double sites accommodating up to 16 people each, and two group sites for larger gatherings. The facility can accommodate tents, trailers, and motor homes up to 75 feet in length, with three ADA-accessible family sites available. The campground's location provides excellent access to outdoor recreation. The Sinkhole and Back Alley Trails exit from Loop B, guiding hikers to a natural sinkhole and offering spectacular views from the edge of the Mogollon Rim. The rim itself is a 200-mile long escarpment that serves as the geographical divide between the cool high country and the hot desert below. Willow Springs Lake, located approximately 5 miles from the campground, offers trout fishing and boating opportunities with motors up to 10 HP. The campground features full amenities including flush restrooms, showers, potable water, and an amphitheater where Forest Service naturalists conduct educational programs on weekends. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Summer daytime temperatures are typically 20-40 degrees cooler than the Phoenix area, though the monsoon season from July through August brings afternoon thunderstorms. Forest Lakes is 1 mile east for gas, groceries, and telephones.
