About

The Caledon State Park Picnic Shelter is a covered day-use facility designed for group gatherings and picnics along the Potomac River in King George County. The 20x40 foot shelter accommodates up to 40 people comfortably and features picnic tables, an extra-large grill at the rear, lighting, and electricity. A water fountain and faucet are located adjacent to the building, with a portable toilet approximately 75 feet away. This facility is available for rental from 8 a.m. until park closing and is universally accessible, situated just 75 feet from the parking area with the visitor center nearby. The shelter must be reserved through the Virginia State Parks Customer Service Center. When not reserved, it is available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. Note that this is a day-use picnic shelter only and does not permit overnight camping. Caledon State Park does offer primitive camping at six separate paddle-in and hike-in waterfront campsites elsewhere in the park, but those are a different facility.
