Widewater State Park's paddle-in campsites provide a distinctive camping experience on Virginia's Potomac River. The four primitive sites are located in a welcoming cove and can only be reached by kayak or canoe, making them ideal for paddlers seeking an overnight adventure. The campsites feature a nicely groomed area with access to a nearby bath house via a winding concrete path from the water. The park sits on a peninsula where Aquia Creek meets the Potomac River in northeastern Stafford County. Campers can enjoy beautiful sunset views from the beach and experience the tranquility of sleeping along the river. The park also offers additional amenities including a visitor center, canoe-kayak launches, motorboat launch, hiking trails, and picnic shelters. These sites are currently the only overnight camping option at Widewater while the park continues development. Future phases of the master plan include traditional campgrounds, cabins, group camping facilities, and additional canoe-in sites.

From I-95, take exit 143A (Garrisonville Road/VA-610 East). Continue east on Garrisonville Road, then turn left onto Widewater State Park Road. Park address is 101 Widewater State Park Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Access to paddle-in sites requires launching a kayak or canoe from the park's water access points.
