About
Beaver Creek Cabin sits at 7,000 feet elevation in a wooded canyon near Beaver Creek and the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, nestled beneath 11,316-foot Hilgard Peak. This primitive cabin accommodates up to 5 guests with two bunk beds, a sleeping loft, and three basic sleeping pads. The cabin is heated by a wood stove, with firewood provided October 1 through May 31 (limited availability; not provided June 1 through September 30). The cabin includes basic amenities such as an axe, shovel, bucket, table with chairs, and a stock pot for boiling water. Guests must bring their own drinking water or treat water from natural sources, as well as all bedding, cooking equipment, lighting, first aid supplies, and garbage bags to pack out all trash. A vault toilet is located outside. The cabin is accessible by vehicle in summer via Forest Service Road 985, but winter access requires snowmobile, skis, or snowshoes from the Refuge Point parking lot. Nearby trailheads lead into the Lee Metcalf Wilderness with routes to high mountain lakes. A hitching rail is provided for stock use. The area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and wildlife viewing. Grizzly bears are common in the area. Hebgen Lake is within 10 miles, and Yellowstone National Park is 30 miles away.
