About

Bulltown Campground is a large Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the edge of Burnsville Lake in central West Virginia. With 204 total campsites, the campground offers a mix of waterfront and wooded sites, including 134 sites with full hookups featuring water, electric, and sewer connections. The campground sits at the headwaters of Burnsville Lake on the Little Kanawha River, in the hilly, forested foothills of the Allegheny Mountains just west of the Allegheny Plateau. The campground's location beside the Bulltown Historic Area adds historical significance to any visit. This site occupies the location of a Civil War battle, and the Bulltown Historical Village offers visitors a chance to experience life during the Civil War era. Reenactments of the historic battle take place twice a year, drawing history enthusiasts to the area. Recreational opportunities abound at Burnsville Lake, with activities including boating, fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, hunting, and picnicking. A boat ramp is located within the campground, and a beach area is approximately one mile away. The campground features bathhouses with showers, playgrounds within each loop, and a shelter. The Burnsville Lake Wildlife Management Area lies to the east, providing additional opportunities for outdoor activities. For convenience, two general stores are located within three miles of the campground.
