About
Bakers Run Campground is one of the best-kept secrets in West Virginia, nestled in the Elk River Wildlife Management Area at Sutton Lake. The Elk River boasts the highest species diversity of any river in the state, offering excellent fishing for bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, and walleye. Wildlife abounds: turkeys gobble and whitetail deer roam the surrounding forests.
The campground features 77 sites: eight with full water and electric hookups, 26 with electric only (30-50 amp), and 44 primitive sites. About a quarter of the sites sit directly on the waterfront. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and blacktop pad accommodating vehicles up to 50 feet. Heated shower houses with flush toilets, dump stations, and potable water fountains serve campers.
Recreation options include a playground, horseshoe pits, bean bag toss, volleyball, basketball court, and boat launch. The historical town of Sutton and the Monongahela National Forest are within driving distance. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, with some sites available first-come, first-served.
