About
Bakers Run Campground is one of West Virginia's hidden gems, nestled deep in the mountains along the tributaries of the Elk River at Sutton Lake. The campground is surrounded by the Elk River Wildlife Management Area, providing exceptional opportunities for wildlife viewing including turkeys and whitetail deer. The Elk River has the highest species diversity and richness of any river in West Virginia, making it an excellent destination for fishing bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, and walleye.
The campground offers 77 sites with a variety of camping options: 8 full hookup sites with water and electric, 26 electric-only sites, and 44 primitive sites. Each site includes a table, fire ring, and blacktop pad. About a quarter of the sites are waterfront. The facility features shower houses with hot showers and flush toilets, a dump station, playground with swings, horseshoe pits, bean bag toss, volleyball area, basketball court, and a boat launch for lake access.
Located within driving range of Monongahela National Forest, Bakers Run provides access to the historic town of Sutton and the Flatwood Outlet Mall for supplies. Sutton Lake includes other recreational areas such as Gerald R. Freeman Campground and Bee Run Recreation Area, offering additional camping, swimming, and boating opportunities. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis during its season.
