About

Buckhead Shelter is located in the Willamette National Forest near Oakridge in Lane County, Oregon. The site is part of the Buckhead area that provides access to the Buckhead Trail #3474, a short 0.5-mile paved interpretive loop through riparian forest habitat along the Middle Fork Willamette River. Official U.S. Forest Service documentation indicates the Buckhead Nature Trailhead area is designated for day-use only, with operating hours from sunrise to sunset. There are no restroom facilities, no potable water, and no fee required for access. The area is managed by the Middle Fork Ranger District. Visitors should note that Forest Service roads in this area are not maintained for snow and ice during winter months, which may limit accessibility seasonally. The site is primarily used as a trailhead for day hikers interested in the interpretive nature trail rather than as an overnight camping destination.
