About
Bridge Camp Campground sits at the end of Trinity Alps Road, 18 miles north of Weaverville, making it one of the most remote developed campgrounds in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Located on the North Fork of Stuart Fork Creek, this 10-site tent and equestrian campground serves as the primary access point for the Stuart Fork Trail into the Trinity Alps Wilderness, one of the most popular wilderness areas in Northern California. The campground is designed specifically for tent camping and horseback riding, with one corral that can hold up to 10 pack stock and two hitching rails. Two campsites closest to the trailhead are walk-in only. The remaining sites are accessible by vehicle but the average back-in length is 16 feet with a maximum trailer size of 20 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground stretches along Stuart Fork Creek, with some campsites positioned right at the water's edge beneath a thick canopy of Douglas fir and mixed deciduous trees. Access to Bridge Camp requires navigating 2 miles of dirt road after passing through Trinity Alps Resort. The route includes one low water crossing followed by a steep hill that may require 4x4 and high clearance, especially during wet conditions. The campground also features a historic hotfoot Bridge Camp Siphon, which carried water from 1898 through 1914 to the LaGrange Hydraulic Mine. Bridge Camp operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted.
Directions
From Weaverville, take Highway 3 north for 13 miles. Cross over the Stuart Fork Bridge and turn left onto Trinity Alps Road. Drive slowly through Trinity Alps Resort and continue 2 miles on dirt road. The road ends at the campground. Note: After the resort, there is one low water crossing followed by a steep hill that may require 4x4 and high clearance.
