About
Rush Creek Campground is a primitive Forest Service campground situated along the banks of Rush Creek in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground stretches through a forest of Douglas fir, oak, and maple, with the sound of the creek audible throughout. Most of the 8 campsites are well-separated, offering good privacy for campers seeking a quiet, natural setting. All sites feature fire rings with grills and picnic tables, with some sites also having a Klamath stove. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground road and spurs are unpaved and accommodate smaller vehicles, with an average back-in length of about 16 feet. Fishing for brook trout is available in Rush Creek. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. It is managed by Vista (formerly Shasta Recreation Company) as a concessionaire for the Forest Service. Dogs are allowed on a leash of 6 feet or shorter. Horse and pack animals are not permitted.
Directions
From Weaverville, take Highway 3 north for about 8 miles. Turn left at the Rush Creek Campground sign and drive 1/2 mile.
