About

Mary Smith Campground is located along the southern shore of Lewiston Lake in Shasta-Trinity National Forest, two miles north of the town of Lewiston. The campground features 17 sites total, including 11 traditional tent sites and 6 glamping units equipped with queen beds, linens, and front deck seating. Recognized by Sunset Magazine as one of California's prettiest lake campgrounds, many sites offer direct shore access to the lake. The campsites are nestled in a mixed forest of conifer and deciduous trees with abundant wildflowers, and every site provides views of Lewiston Lake and the surrounding Trinity Alps. The campground is tent-only with no parking spurs or trailer access. Sites are arranged in small groups providing fair to outstanding privacy, with smaller tent pads that accommodate 1-2 three-person tents. Lewiston Lake stretches five miles long, reaches 70 feet deep, and sits at 1,902 feet elevation. The lake is renowned for excellent trout fishing, with abundant rainbow trout and common brown and brook trout populations. The 10 mph motorized boat speed limit creates ideal conditions for kayaking, canoeing, and float tube fishing. Pine Cove boat ramp is four miles away, while Fairview launching area on Trinity Lake is nine miles north. The area offers wonderful wildlife viewing and hiking opportunities throughout the Trinity Alps Wilderness region.

From Weaverville, take Highway 3 north for 7 miles. Turn right on Rush Creek Road for 9 miles. Turn left on Trinity Dam Boulevard for 3/4 mile. Turn right on Lewiston Vista/Mary Smith exit. Campground is 1/4 mile from exit on County Road 105, 2 miles north of Lewiston.
