Stoney Creek Group Campground is nestled at 2,370 feet elevation on the banks of Stoney Creek at Trinity Lake's Stuart Fork Arm in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This group campground accommodates 50-60 people and is designed primarily for tent camping, though the paved parking lot can accommodate 1-3 motorhomes or trailers. The sites are shaded by tall cedar and ponderosa pines and include flush restrooms, drinking water, a group pedestal grill, fire ring, multiple tables, and bear-resistant food lockers. The campground is located directly across from the popular Stoney Creek Swim Area, offering beach access and excellent swimming opportunities. A boat ramp and marina are less than a mile away, providing easy access to Trinity Lake for motorized and non-motorized boating, water skiing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing. Anglers can fish for catfish, bass, trout, and salmon. The surrounding Trinity Alps landscape is home to black bears, bobcats, mountain lions, and diverse bird species. Located 14 miles north of the historic mining town of Weaverville, the campground sits within the largest national forest in California. The area offers hiking, scenic views, and proximity to five wilderness areas, hundreds of mountain lakes, and thousands of miles of streams and rivers. Managed by Shasta Recreation Company (Vista), reservations are required and available through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From Weaverville, take State Route 3 north for 13.8 miles. The campground is on the left side after the Stoney Creek Swim Area.
