Tannery Gulch Campground sits on the shores of Trinity Lake at 2,370 feet elevation, 12 miles north of Weaverville in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The facility offers 82 campsites spread across four loops (A, B, C, and D) nestled among tall pines, firs, and oaks. Three of the four loops provide scenic lake views, though sites are generally close to each other with minimal privacy. All campsites include a picnic table and fire ring, with some featuring bear-resistant food lockers. The campground has paved roads and spurs throughout. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water available Memorial Day weekend through October 31, and a well-developed amphitheater with seating for 150 people that hosts interpretive programs during summer months. Recreational opportunities are abundant. The campground features a single-lane boat ramp and swim beach exclusively for camper use. The half-mile Trail of the Trees nature trail is accessible from the campground. Trinity Lake is popular for power and non-motorized boating, fishing, sailing, and water skiing. Anglers can catch catfish, bass, trout, and salmon. The campground is surrounded by the Trinity Alps, and visitors may spot black bears, bobcats, mountain lions, and diverse bird species. From Weaverville, take State Route 3 north for 10.5 miles. Take Tannery Gulch exit. Campground is located 1 mile from exit.
