About

Upper Jamison Creek Campground sits at 5,200 feet elevation within the 6,700-acre Plumas-Eureka State Park on the east slopes of the Sierra Nevada. The campground features approximately 67 established sites nestled among the trees along Jamison Creek, with 41 sites suitable for RVs and trailers. The creek flows through the campground and offers occasional trout fishing opportunities. Each campsite is equipped with a bear-resistant food locker measuring 33 inches deep, 48 inches wide, and 21 inches high, and storing all food, beverages, and toiletries in these lockers is required by law. The campground serves as a perfect base for exploring the park's rich gold mining history, including the Mohawk Stamp Mill and historic buildings that operated from the 1850s until World War II. Campers can access more than ten miles of hiking trails directly from their campsites, connecting to the Lakes Basin Recreation Area and the Pacific Crest Trail. The park museum and visitor center, housed in a historic miner's bunkhouse, offers exhibits on mining and pioneer life during summer months. Summer temperatures range from about 75 degrees during the day to the low 40s at night. High Sierra weather can change abruptly, so layered clothing is recommended. The park is located five miles west of Blairsden on County Road A-14. Dogs are allowed only on fire roads and are not permitted on most park trails.
