About
Lost Lake Campground is a family-friendly destination in the Gunnison National Forest, located at the terminus of Forest Service Road 706. The campground provides direct access to three bodies of water: Lost Lake, Dollar Lake, and Lost Lake Slough. Anglers can fish all three lakes, though motorized boats are prohibited on Lost Lake Slough. The surrounding area is renowned for its wildflower displays, peaking in mid-July through early August. Beckwith Pass Trail departs nearby, offering hikers breathtaking vistas of the Ruby Mountain Range. The high-elevation setting and remote location create a quieter camping experience despite heavy usage during peak season. Facilities include vault toilets and potable water via hand pump. Sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations available. Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., OHV use is prohibited within the campground, and dogs must remain leashed.
Directions
From Paonia: Travel northeast on Highway 133 for approximately 15 miles to County Road 12 (Kebler Pass Road). Turn right onto CR 12 and continue east for approximately 16 miles to Forest Service Road 706 (Lost Lake Road). Turn right onto FSR 706 and go 2 miles to the campground. From Crested Butte: Travel west on County Road 12 (Kebler Pass Road) for approximately 16 miles to FSR 706. Turn left and continue 2 miles to the campground.
