Blue Mounds State Park Group Campground

Open

The group campground is open for reservations and operates seasonally from mid-May through October. Reservations can be made online up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota State Parks reservation system.

About

Blue Mounds State Park Group Campground provides a primitive group camping experience in one of Minnesota's most distinctive prairie landscapes. The single group site (GC1) can accommodate up to 75 people and is situated adjacent to Mound Creek, offering a scenic setting for family reunions, Scout troops, and other organized groups. The campground features basic amenities typical of Minnesota State Park group camps: picnic tables and fire rings with grills at the site, access to water, and vault toilets. Modern restroom and shower facilities are not provided at the group camp, though the main campground elsewhere in the park does have these amenities. Campers must use only approved firewood. Blue Mounds State Park is known for its striking 100-foot Sioux quartzite cliffs, free-roaming bison herd, and expansive prairie landscapes. The park offers hiking trails through native prairie, rock climbing opportunities, and interpretive programs including popular prairie and bison tours that run from late May through fall.
