About

Established in 1937, Blue Mounds State Park sits atop a Sioux quartzite outcrop in Rock County near Luverne, Minnesota. The park's main campground contains 73 semi-modern sites: 40 with 30-amp electric hookups and 33 without. Each site features a fire ring with grill, picnic table, and access to potable water. The grounds are grassy and well-shaded, serviced by two shower/restroom buildings with flush toilets. A separate cart-in campground offers 14 more secluded sites for those seeking a quieter experience. The campground provides two ADA-accessible sites (one electric, one non-electric) with wheelchair-accessible showers and restrooms. An RV dump station is available. No water or sewer hookups exist at individual sites. Maximum RV length is 50 feet. Beyond camping, the park showcases native tallgrass prairie, Minnesota's first state-owned bison herd, and a spectacular 1.5-mile rock cliff that glows pink at sunrise and sunset. Climbing routes on the quartzite face draw rock climbers, while hikers explore 13 miles of trails through prairie and oak savanna.
