About
Blue Knob State Park campground sits in the northwestern tip of Bedford County on a spur of the Allegheny Front, offering wilderness camping at Pennsylvania's second-highest peak. The campground features 50 tent and trailer sites distributed across open fields and wooded areas, with most sites equipped with electric hookups. Two walk-in sites provide a more secluded camping experience. Modern amenities include restrooms with flush toilets and showers, water access throughout the campground, a sanitary dump station, and playground equipment for families. A campground host is typically present during peak activity periods. The park encompasses 6,128 acres of forested mountain terrain with spectacular views of the Ridge and Valley Province to the east. Campers have access to extensive recreational opportunities including nearly 20 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to advanced difficulty, mountain biking routes, and horseback riding trails. The park also features a swimming pool open Memorial Day through Labor Day, fishing opportunities, and connects to the 26-mile Lost Turkey Trail for backcountry exploration. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and access to nearby downhill skiing. The campground serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the rugged Allegheny Mountain landscape.
