About

Charles Waters Campground is a well-developed facility in the Bitterroot National Forest, featuring 26 individual campsites plus one double site on paved asphalt surfaces. The campground includes 4 pull-through sites, one accessible site with electric hookup, one bicycle site, and one horse site. It can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 70 feet in length. The bicycle and horse sites are reserved for those users until 6 p.m. daily, after which they become available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is associated with the Bass Creek Recreation Area, which features four picnic sites, an interpretive nature trail, and a fire ecology trail. Multiple trailheads provide access to hiking, mountain biking, and stock routes leading into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. The Larry Creek Group Site, located within Bass Creek Recreation Area, is available for advance reservation. A campground host is present from Memorial Day through Labor Day to assist visitors.

Directions

From Stevensville take the Stevensville cut-off road to Highway 93. Travel north 3.7 miles and turn west (left) onto Bass Creek Road. Travel approximately 2 miles to the campground.
