About

Laird Park Campground is a historic recreation area in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests near Potlatch, Idaho. Named in memory of A.W. Laird, a lumberman and early leader in the Potlatch Lumber Company, the campground sits along the Palouse River and offers 31 developed single-unit campsites plus one group site. The centerpiece of the recreation area is a sandy swimming beach created by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 when they constructed a swimming beach dam. The area also features two group picnic areas and a half-mile interpretive trail that winds through the surrounding forest. Fishing is a popular activity, with abundant opportunities to catch rainbow and brown trout from the Palouse River. The campground accommodates tent camping and smaller RVs or trailers with a maximum camper length of 30 feet. Vault toilets and picnic tables are provided. Note that potable water has been unavailable due to water system issues, and campers must pack out all trash as no garbage service is provided.
