About

Giant White Pine Campground is a peaceful 14-site developed campground on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, situated along Idaho's scenic White Pine Scenic Byway (Highway 6). The campground takes its name from a remarkable 600-year-old white pine that once stood here. Though the tree was eventually cut down due to disease, it remains on display within the campground as a testament to the region's old-growth forests. The campground sits in a lush forested setting with sites suitable for tents and smaller RVs or trailers up to 30 feet. Amenities include potable water from a hand pump and vault toilets. Campers should be prepared to pack out all trash as no garbage service is available. Horse and pack animals are not permitted at this site. Several hiking opportunities are accessible from or near the campground, including the National Recreation Trail 224A and the East Fork Meadows Creek Trail, making this an excellent base for exploring the surrounding forest landscape.
