Open for the season. No potable water is available on-site; campers must obtain water from Ponderosa Campground filling station. Site A has porta-potties only; Sites B and C have vault toilets. Group site reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance through Recreation.gov. Check-in is at Ponderosa Uinta Campground. Gate closes at 10 pm. 16-day stay limit.

Provo, Payson, Orem, Eagle Mountain, Santaquin, Elk Ridge, Rocky Ridge, Cedar Fort, Vernon, Vineyard, Ophir, Lake Shore, Tooele Army Depot South, Benjamin, Spring Lake, Utah Lake, West Mountain, Elberta, Palmyra, and Saratoga Springs. This includes the following highways... Interstate 15 between mile markers 236 and 253, and between mile markers 269 and 272. US Route 6 between mile markers 135 and 160.

About
Bear Canyon Campground is situated at 6,800 feet elevation on the boundary of Mount Nebo Wilderness Area in Utah's Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Located just off the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway, the campground occupies a large grassy meadow lined with aspen and fir trees, though shade within individual sites is limited. Each site offers views of the surrounding Wasatch Range. Salt Creek runs along the campground edge, providing rainbow trout fishing opportunities. Bear Canyon Trail begins at the campground entrance, accommodating hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The adjacent Mount Nebo Wilderness offers pristine waters, abundant wildlife, summer wildflowers, and numerous trail options. Devil's Kitchen Geological Area lies 6 miles away along the Nebo Loop, featuring red rock hoodoos via a half-mile trail. The campground offers three group sites: Site A accommodates up to 60 people, Site B up to 40 people, and Site C (tent-only) up to 20 people. Six single sites are also available. No potable water is available on-site; water can be obtained at the nearby Ponderosa Campground filling station. Roads and walking paths are paved.
Directions
From I-15, take Nephi exit 225. Travel about 5 miles east on Highway 132 to the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway. Turn left onto the byway and travel 3.5 miles to the Bear Canyon turnoff. Turn left. Bear Canyon Campground is located at the end of the road, just past Ponderosa Campground.
