About

Basin Gulch Campground is nestled in a densely forested setting in the South Fork Trinity River area of Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Located within walking distance of Middle Fork Cottonwood Creek, the campground offers a peaceful retreat with natural shade from the surrounding trees. Sites are designed for tents and small trailers 20 feet or shorter. This primitive first-come, first-served campground provides vault toilets and picnic tables but no potable water. Campers must bring their own drinking water or filter/treat water from the nearby creek. The $12 nightly fee is payable by cash or check only. The location makes an excellent basecamp for OHV enthusiasts, with forest routes and trails leading toward Lake McCloud and Shasta Lake. Day hiking opportunities are also available in the surrounding national forest.
