About

Balmorhea State Park, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, offers camping in the high desert of West Texas at 3,205 feet elevation. The park features 34 electric campsites with water hookups and one group site that can accommodate up to 16 people. Most sites offer 20/30 amp service, while select sites provide 50 amp service for larger rigs. Many sites have shade structures over the picnic tables. The park includes both pull-through sites for RVs and dedicated tent-only sites. The park is renowned for its crystal-clear spring-fed swimming pool, one of the world's largest, with over 15 million gallons of water flowing through it daily from San Solomon Springs. The pool maintains a constant temperature of 72-76 degrees year-round and is popular for swimming, scuba diving, and snorkeling. The park also features restored cienegas (desert wetlands) that provide habitat for endangered fish species. Campers have access to restrooms with showers, a park store offering swimming accessories and souvenirs, picnic sites, an outdoor sports area, and a playground. The park offers ranger programs on nature and history. Located in arid West Texas, the area experiences warm days with cool nights from May to September, with low humidity year-round.
