About

Davis Mountains State Park provides camping in the rugged Trans-Pecos region of West Texas, 150 miles southwest of Midland-Odessa and 200 miles east of El Paso. The park sits at 5,000 to 6,000 feet elevation in a sky island ecosystem where desert grasslands meet montane woodlands. The cooler temperatures and dark skies make it a popular destination for stargazing and escaping summer heat. The campground offers 93 developed sites across multiple loops: 26 full hookup sites with water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electric; 34 water and electric sites with 20/30 amp service; and 33 water-only sites. All developed sites include a picnic table and fire ring or grill. Primitive hike-in sites are available for backpackers willing to tackle a minimum 4-mile hike with 800-foot elevation gain. Restrooms are located throughout the camping areas. Indian Lodge, a Pueblo-revival style hotel built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, operates within park boundaries and offers 39 guest rooms, the Black Bear Restaurant, and a seasonal swimming pool. The park provides access to extensive trail systems for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, plus an equestrian camping area with six sites in Limpia Canyon.
