Located just 3 miles north of West Yellowstone on US Highway 191, Bakers Hole Campground provides an excellent base for exploring Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding Custer Gallatin National Forest. The campground spans 25 acres along the Madison River, a renowned blue-ribbon trout stream that attracts anglers from around the world. With 73 total sites including 33 with electrical hookups, the facility accommodates both tent campers and RVers seeking a more developed camping experience.
The campground sits at an elevation of 6,500 feet in a pine forest setting, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing, and scenic enjoyment. Sites include picnic tables and fire pits, with potable water available throughout the campground. Vault toilets serve the facility, and firewood is available for purchase from the camp host. The campground operates on a reservation system through Recreation.gov during the main season, though it can fill quickly during peak summer months from mid-June through August.
Bakers Hole provides convenient access to Yellowstone National Park's west entrance while offering a quieter alternative to park campgrounds. The Madison River corridor is known for excellent fly fishing, and the surrounding national forest offers additional opportunities for dispersed camping, hiking, and exploring the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. A 16-day stay limit applies, and visitors should note there are no shower facilities or RV dump stations on site.
