Operating season runs May 1 through October 11, weather dependent. The campground is currently open. Reservations available through Recreation.gov. A food and attractant storage order is in effect for the Hebgen Lake Ranger District.

AQAMT The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Beaverhead, Broadwater, Deer Lodge, Flathead, Gallatin, Granite, Jefferson, Lake, Lewis and Clark, Lincoln, Madison, Mineral, Missoula, Park, Powell, Ravalli, Silver Bow, Sweet Grass, Sanders, Yellowstone counties in effect until 9AM on 08/11/2026 An Air Quality Alert means that particulates have been trending upwards and that an exceedance of the 24 hour National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) has occurred or may occur in the near future. Elevated particulate levels from wildfire smoke As of 7AM on 08/10/2026, particulate levels in Columbia Falls, Frenchtown, Libby and Missoula are Unhealthy. As of 7AM on 08/10/2026, particulate levels in Billings, Dillon, Great Falls, Helena and Thompson Falls are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. As of 7AM on 08/10/2026, particulate levels in Butte, Cut Bank, Hamilton, Lewistown and Sleeping Giant are Moderate. When air quality is Unhealthy... About
Baker's Hole Campground occupies a prime location along the Madison River in the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest, just 3 miles north of West Yellowstone on US 191. The campground offers 73 individual campsites plus one group picnic site, with 33 sites featuring electrical hookups for RV campers. Average parking spurs measure 25 by 75 feet, accommodating most RV and trailer configurations. Facilities include potable drinking water from hand pumps, vault toilets with two ADA-accessible restroom facilities, trash pickup service, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. The campground does not have showers or an RV dump station. Firewood is available for purchase at the host site for $10 per bundle. The Madison River frontage makes this campground particularly attractive for anglers targeting trout. The location also serves as an excellent base camp for day trips into Yellowstone National Park or exploring the greater Hebgen Lake area for scenic viewing and wildlife observation.
