About

The backcountry campground at Sky Meadows State Park provides a peaceful primitive camping experience in the Blue Ridge Mountains foothills. Campers must hike 1 mile along Hadow Trail from the overnight parking area, though the campground is also accessible by bike. The facility offers 15 individual sites, 2 buddy sites for families camping together, and 2 group camps accommodating up to 24 and 36 people respectively. Each site includes a 16x16-foot tent pad, picnic table, fire pit with grate, bear-proof locker, and lantern hook. Select individual sites and Buddy Site 2 have hammock posts. The campground provides pit toilets, non-potable water, bear-proof trash cans, and firewood for purchase at $6 per 10 sticks. Outside firewood is prohibited. Reservations are site-specific and required for group sites, recommended for individual sites, with limited walk-in honor camping available for one night at individual sites only. Appalachian Trail hikers have access to a designated primitive site.
