About

Aspen Campground is a small, scenic campground located approximately 22 miles southeast of Walden near Gould, Colorado in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Situated at around 9,000 feet elevation at the base of Owl Mountain, the campground sits in a grove of aspen trees adjacent to the South Fork of the Michigan River. The natural streams and rivers make this area prime moose territory, with sightings common especially during early and late season. The campground offers 7 primitive campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire grate. Facilities include vault toilets and potable water. This is a cash or check only facility with fees of $14 per night. The campground is best suited for tent camping and small trailers under 20 feet. Maximum stay is 14 nights per visit. Nearby attractions include the Moose Visitor Center at Colorado State Forest and various hiking and fishing opportunities. Cell service is limited, with T-Mobile and AT&T providing the best coverage in the area.

From Walden, travel approximately 22 miles southeast on Colorado Highway 14 to Gould. The campground is adjacent to the South Fork of the Michigan River near the base of Owl Mountain.
