About
Aspen Glen Campground is a small, intimate 9-site facility nestled in the scenic Poudre Canyon along Colorado Highway 14 in Roosevelt National Forest. Set amidst a beautiful aspen and mixed conifer forest with open meadow areas, the campground sits adjacent to the Cache La Poudre River, Colorado's only federally designated Wild and Scenic River. At an elevation of 8,660 feet, the campground offers a pleasant mountain setting surrounded by steep canyon walls. Each of the nine sites is equipped with a tent pad, fire grate, and picnic table. Drinking water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets serve the campground. The parking spurs accommodate RVs and trailers ranging from 25 to 35 feet, though the campground attracts a mix of tent campers and smaller RVs. Sites can accommodate up to eight people, and tents must fit on the provided pads while vehicles must remain on parking spurs to protect the surrounding environment. The campground's location along Highway 14 provides easy access to numerous recreational opportunities. The Cache La Poudre River offers excellent fishing opportunities, while the surrounding area features trails for hiking and mountain biking. The canyon is known for heavy usage during peak season, and the scenic drive along Highway 14 is considered one of Colorado's premier mountain routes. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound in this diverse ecosystem where forest meets meadow. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a hand-held leash at all times.
Directions
Drive 11 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287. Turn left (west) onto Colorado Highway 14 and travel approximately 49 miles up the Poudre River Canyon. The campground is on the north side of the highway, along Joe Wright Creek.
