About

Wagon Wheel Modern Campground at Algonac State Park offers 76 campsites arranged in a distinctive circular pattern, reminiscent of a wagon wheel. Located in a wooded setting approximately 10 minutes from the St. Clair River shoreline, the campground provides a quieter alternative to the park's riverfront camping area while maintaining a northwoods ambiance. Each site features a paved pad, and the campground includes electric hookups with 20- and 30-amp service, central water spigots, and modern restroom facilities with showers centrally located within the wheel design for easy access. Algonac State Park spans 1,550 acres along the St. Clair River and is renowned for viewing international freighters. The park features the 54-mile Bridge to Bay Trail for hiking and biking, rare lake plain prairies and oak savannas, fishing opportunities including walleye, and a shooting range with archery and rifle facilities. Three ADA-accessible campsites are available within the Wagon Wheel Campground. The park also offers paddling access, hunting, metal detecting in designated areas, and seasonal nature programs during summer and fall.
