About
Paint Creek Equestrian Camp serves as a dedicated base for horseback riders exploring the scenic Paint Creek Valley in Highland County, Ohio. This primitive campground is situated on the south side of Paint Creek Lake, separated from the main family camping area to provide a quiet environment suitable for horses. The facility features 10 spacious equestrian campsites designed to accommodate riders and their mounts. The campground provides convenient access to approximately 25 miles of interconnecting loop trails that traverse the southwestern side of Paint Creek Lake. These primitive, single-track trails wind through hardwood forests, passing through moderate hills and ravines, offering varied terrain for experienced trail riders. The equestrian trails are located less than 200 yards from the lake, allowing riders to enjoy views of the water during their journey. As a primitive campground, the equestrian camp is designed for self-contained camping units. Reservations are required and can be made through the Ohio state park reservation system. The park itself encompasses 5,652 acres and offers additional recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing in the Paint Creek Valley.
