About

King's Mountain Point Day Use Area sits on the eastern shore of Badin Lake, a 5,350-acre impoundment of the Yadkin River built in 1917 by ALCOA for hydroelectric power. The lake is the largest fishing hole in Uwharrie National Forest, stocked with catfish, bream, largemouth bass, white bass, and striped bass. Four accessible fishing piers provide shoreline access, though the floating fishing pier is currently under renovation until Spring 2027. The reservable picnic pavilion accommodates groups with 9 picnic tables, 3 large charcoal grills (bring your own charcoal), and 6 electrical outlets at 30 amps. Beyond the pavilion, 34 individual picnic sites with pedestal grills are scattered throughout the area and available free without reservation. A 0.5-mile paved accessible trail circles the day-use area with views of the lake, and a 9-hole disc golf course is available with discs available from the on-site Day Use Host. This is strictly a day-use facility open from 7 am to 10 pm daily, year-round. Overnight camping is prohibited. The pavilion must be reserved through Recreation.gov for group events and parties.
