About
South Fork Group Site 5 is nestled along the South Fork of the Clearwater River in the scenic Highway 14 Corridor of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. This reservable group site can accommodate up to 25 people and is located within the South Fork Campground, which sits between Highway 14 and the river in north central Idaho. The campground features forested canyons with sections of rugged granite outcroppings, as well as gently sloping lodgepole pine-covered uplands and lush wildflower meadows. Each campsite includes a picnic table, grill, tent pad, and paved parking spur. Vault toilets are provided, and drinking water is available during the peak season. The campground is well-suited to moderately-sized RVs. A volunteer camp host may be on-site during the summer months. Visitors should bring trash bags as there is no garbage service, and drinking water during the off-season. The South Fork of the Clearwater River offers excellent fishing opportunities for trout, steelhead, and salmon. Berry picking is popular in season. The campground's proximity to Highway 14 makes it easy to enjoy scenic drives through changing landscapes and historic areas. The dramatic elevational differences in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests support a wide variety of vegetation, from cedar groves to desert ecosystems, offering abundant recreational activities and scenic attractions throughout the area.
