Fish Creek Group Use is a primitive dispersed group campground situated one mile south of Fish Creek Campground within the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Set in a large, flat clearing beneath tall pines in north central Idaho's Salmon River/Highway 95 Corridor, the site can accommodate up to 75 people and 20 vehicles. The campground is also known by several names including Eagle's Nest, Girl Scout Camp, and Fish Creek Dispersed Site. This horse-friendly facility provides basic amenities including two vault toilets, several picnic tables, and rock fire rings. There is no potable water, electricity, or hookups. The site operates as a pack-it-out facility, so campers must bring trash bags and remove all waste. Hay brought to the site must be certified weed-free. The surrounding landscape varies from the emerald-colored Salmon River flowing through steep canyon walls to the remote Gospel-Hump Wilderness. The nearby Fish Creek Cross Country Trail offers a 7-mile multi-use loop open to hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts with scenic views of Gospel Mountain, Pilot Rock, and Buffalo Hump. Grangeville, the closest town, offers camping supplies and a historical museum.

Directions

Drive 8 miles south of Grangeville, Idaho on Grangeville Salmon Road (Forest Road 221). Drive past Fish Creek Campground and take the first right onto Forest Road 2000. Drive about 1/2 mile and take the second left.
