About
Mineral Lake Campground occupies a scenic position along the shores of 256-acre Mineral Lake within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest's Great Divide District. The lake is surrounded by mixed hardwood forest and offers excellent fishing opportunities for musky, bass, walleye, and panfish. An eagle's nest on the west shore draws wildlife enthusiasts for birdwatching. A boat ramp providing lake access is located approximately one mile north of the campground on Forest Service Road 187. Nearby attractions include Morgan Falls and St. Peter's Dome, the highest peak in the forest. The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through the area, offering hiking access to a multi-state trail system. The campground is currently closed with no announced reopening date. The site historically featured 10 standard nonelectric campsites. When operational, outside firewood is prohibited to prevent the spread of invasive pests.
