About
Lakeside Campground occupies a shaded spot at the south end of Lake Alva in Montana's Lolo National Forest. At roughly 4,200 feet elevation, summer temperatures stay comfortable. The campground has five sites total: one group site accommodating up to 25 people, three individual RV/tent sites, and one tent-only site. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water or trash collection. Lake Alva offers excellent fishing for Kokanee salmon, whitefish, pike, trout, and perch. All motorized boats must operate at no-wake speed year-round. A boat ramp is located at Lake Alva Campground one mile north on Highway 83. The lake supports a loon nesting population with protected areas during May and June. The Mission Mountain Wilderness lies about 15 miles northwest, and the town of Seeley Lake is 10 miles south with full services including boat rentals. Bears frequent the area; food storage orders require all attractants be stored in locked vehicles or bear-resistant containers.
Directions
From the town of Seeley Lake, travel north on Montana Highway 83 for approximately 10 miles. The campground entrance is on the west side of the highway at the south end of Lake Alva.
