About

Rainy Lake Campground is a quiet, primitive campground tucked along Rainy Lake in Montana's Lolo National Forest. Part of the scenic Clearwater Chain of Lakes, this small campground offers six first-come-first-served sites with no fees required. Sites 2 through 6 are walk-in tent sites, while site 1 is designed as an accessible site that can accommodate smaller trailers. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables, though campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on site. Vehicles must remain on designated roads. Rainy Lake offers fishing opportunities for species like rainbow trout and provides calm waters suitable for canoeing and kayaking. Hiking trails are also accessible in the surrounding area. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times. The campground operates year-round with 24-hour access, making it a solid option for those seeking a peaceful lakeside experience without reservation hassles or camping fees.
